Campfire Leaders and Helpers Course
25th April 2010, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tea and coffee will be provided but participants need to bring their own packed lunch.
The cost is £25 with a non-refundable deposit of £10 .
The cost includes our "Campfire Leaders Handbook". The course is limited to 15 places.

National Scout Pedal Car Olympics 2011

Extreme Firelighting 2010 - FULLY BOOKED
A refresher course for Leaders. From Saturday 27th to Sunday 28th March 2010 (residential in Oaklodge).
Topics to be covered:
- Recognition of types woods (summer & winter), burning properties of wood, wood collecting, storing wood.
- Fire lighting techniques,(with and without matches) types of kindling, games with fires. Using a fuzz stick.
- Types of fires - Trench, star, reflector, altar (traditional & modern), lumbermans, crane, campfires, etc.
- Cooking methods, mud oven, backwoods, hay box etc.
- Selecting a fireplace. Turfing techniques.
- Fire safety & precautions. Lighting types of fuel stoves.
- How to fill in fire pit and relay turves.
- All practical and hands on
Cost: £50 per head all inclusive (bring your own bedding). Maximum number of 24.

Summer Specials
Water Splash
Water Splash is an annual event that runs every Wednesday afternoon during the 6 weeks of the summer holidays.
With constant activity around Sapper Lake, we call it 'Water Splash' which includes our 'Black hole' water slide, canoe seal launch, water zip line, water roller, floating gladiators, water rocker, many inflatables, water canon bridge challenge and water skiing (Thriftwood style).
No other site activities are run on that afternoon.
Time: 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Cost: £5 per person
Wide Game
On Monday evenings during the summer holidays there is a site run wide game.
Campfire
On Thursday evenings during the summer holidays there is a site run campfire.
Scout's Own
On Sunday evenings during the summer holidays there is a Scouts/Guides own service in Chapel.

Thriftwood Leaders Camp - TLC 2010
By popular demand this event will be repeated in 2010. From Friday 22nd October to Sunday 24th October 2010.
Even more events - hot tubs, massages, activities, bar, music and evening entertaiment.
Cost: Camping £30 per Head, Indoor Accommodation £35.
This event is for Leaders, Helpers and members of their immediate family only. Numbers are restricted to 120 so book now to avoid disappointment.
