Canoe/Kayak 2 Star

BC 2* Kayak and Canoe Course
(training and assessment for candidates who are at the relevant standard.)

The British Canoeing (BC) 2* course is a two-day course over a weekend which covers all the basic flat water skills in a kayak and an open canoe.

Skills covered include:
• Personal paddling
• Support strokes
• Moving the boat in a variety of directions
• Rescue skills.

This will include two trips along the river Chelmer across both days.

By the end of the course you should be confident in a range of skills in both kayaks and canoes as well as increasing your knowledge and awareness of paddling in general. From rescues, kit to take, clothing to wear and awareness of hazards and different paddling environments.

Previous experience of paddling in the two different crafts is required this is not a beginners course and all candidates will be expected to be proficient in the use of spray decks before the course commences.
