Location

Thriftwood lies to the South East of the town of Brentwood in Essex, at Ingrave, just off the A128, and one mile from the main town centre. Although close to a built up area, Thriftwood is a totally fenced area of some 76 acres with no public right of way through the woodland and only has one entrance. Those visiting during the Winter months will often have to imagine the real Summertime scene. The bare trees belie the true picture of what the site is really like when the trees come into leaf and provide an instant screen from the local houses. A visiting camper once said, "When you come through those gates, it's like entering the Tardis".

Directions

For those coming from the M25 take the exit at junction 28 along the A1023 towards Brentwood. Pass over four sets of traffic lights. At the end of Brentwood High Street there is a double mini round about, turn right here along the A128 towards Ingrave and Herongate. Go over the next set of lights, down the hill and over a railway bridge. Immediately after the bridge turn left into Orchard Avenue. Keep bearing left and after 150 yards you will find the entrance to Thriftwood, between the small parade of shops and the first house in Beech Avenue.
