Facilities

Toilets & Showers - New Shower and Toilet blocks were opened in 2006/7/. There are 28 showers in total, with individual changing cublicles. Bright, modern buildings with underfloor heating and forced air ventilation. The second toilet block is situated in the centre of the camp site. No extra charge for use of showers.

Camp Fires - At weekends from May to September a fun sing song is held in the campfire circle to which all are welcome. During the summer holidays, campfire is on Thursdays.

Camp sites Campsites have access drives for limited parking. Many have gates to allow trailers, caravans to be pushed on. Under NO circumstances will we allow vehicles to be driven onto sites, so please don't ask. When required a member of staff will come and open gate to allow you to push trailer etc. onto site. Sites with such gates are marked with a letter G on the site map. Some have electrical hook up points, (At present these are Sites- 4, 5, 21, 22 and 27/28) and are marked with a letter E on the site map. A charge of 10p per unit will be made for electrical consumptiom. We pride ourselves on the grass coverage at Thriftwood, please don't ruin the grass by lighting fires on any bare or burnt patch left by some previous ignorant camper. There are many altar fires for cooking fires, and if you are competant in turfing and trenching (See site rules) then trench fires may be permitted, so long as they are kept to the edges of grassed areas. Fire grids may be obtained from the site office (Warning: these are heavy and may be sooty). ...more details

Site Rules

We try to have few rules at Thriftwood and rely on Leader's common sense most of the time; however here are the inevitable few reminders.

Identification - All campers are required to have some form of identification when on site. Please ensure that a Group; Tee shirt, badge, hat, card or scarf etc is worn at all times.

Noise - Please observe a curfew from 11pm to 7.30am and that any music is only ever played and heard on your site.

Privacy - It is only common courtesy to ensure that no campers ever pass uninvited through other occupied sites.

Waste Disposal - Please do not dig any kind of pit for waste disposal. Solids that cannot be burnt should be placed in the large bins by the toilets. Liquid waste should be strained through a perforated container that is filled with grass and suspended above the ground. Cold and dampened fire ashes should be scattered in the bushes around the edge of site areas.
